Former MACHINE HEAD Guitarist Forms New Project
November 4, 2002Former MACHINE HEAD guitarist Ahrue Luster has teamed up with three members of the Sacramento band JUGGERNAUT in a brand-new, as-yet-unnamed project.
The group, which is currently holed up at a Sacramento rehearsal studio writing and demoing original material, has already completed about six songs in instrumental form, according to Ahrue. Plans exist for the band — Luster, vocalist Patrick Schmidt, bassist Rob Marshall, and drummer Marty Bechtel — to write about two dozen more tracks before selecting the "best 8 to 10" to perform during upcoming live appearances and record towards a possible debut album.
Ahrue is no stranger to the JUGGERNAUT camp, having previously produced a demo for the group, whose musical direction has been described as a mixture of the DEFTONES, SOUNDGARDEN and MACHINE HEAD.
Prior to hooking up with the JUGGERNAUT guys, Luster had been jamming with COAL CHAMBER bassist Nadja Peulen with a view towards forming a band together. Those plans have now been put on hold until such time as Ahrue and Nadja find a suitable vocalist to front the project.
